A bottle of facial cleanser leaked inside my bag and some of it got into my iPad's charging port. I'm away from home and can't easily buy rubbing alcohol or cleaning supplies. I dried the outside with tissues, but the iPad still displays a liquid-detection warning whenever I try to charge it. Is it safe to leave it alone overnight, or could it remain damaged for several days?

The safest short-term option is to disconnect everything, shut the iPad down, and let it air-dry with the charging port pointing downward. The warning can remain even when no liquid comes out on a tissue because residue or moisture may still be detected inside. Once it is dry, have a repair shop check and clean the port before using a cable again.
Because cleanser can be conductive or corrosive and leave deposits behind, avoid charging until the port has been inspected or cleaned. Don’t spray random products into the iPad, including contact cleaner, since the wrong chemical or pressure could cause additional damage. If you can’t get proper supplies for a few days, leave it powered off and dry rather than repeatedly testing it.
Stop trying to charge it while the liquid warning appears. Power the iPad down if possible, keep the port facing downward, and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated place overnight or longer. Don’t insert tissues, toothpicks, cables, or other objects into the port. Cleanser isn’t the same as plain water, so even after it dries it may leave residue; if the warning remains, have the port professionally cleaned before charging.
I’ve seen people recommend 99% isopropyl alcohol. Is waiting several days without cleaning it likely to cause more damage?
If it takes about four days before I can get cleaning supplies, can the iPad safely sit powered off until then?
