My current system has a SilentiumPC Supremo M2 Gold 550W power supply, an MSI B450-A PRO motherboard, a Ryzen 7 5700X, a GTX 1060 6GB, and 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory. I think it's time to replace the GTX 1060 with something that will last a while, but I'm concerned about the power supply.
I'm currently considering an Intel Arc B580 12GB for about $390/€342 or a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB for around $649/€570. I'm not a particularly demanding gamer, but I'd still like a reliable card with good performance and reasonable longevity. The B580 seems like the better value, while the 9060 XT should be faster and may have better long-term driver support. Would the B580 be a sensible choice for this system, or is the 9060 XT worth the extra cost?

Both cards should be usable with a decent 550W supply, especially since the Ryzen 7 5700X is only a 65W CPU. The 9060 XT can also be undervolted through AMD’s software if you want to reduce power draw. That said, replacing the power supply with a reputable 650W model would give you more headroom and may be worthwhile if the current unit is old.
Between these two, I’d choose the 9060 XT if the price fits your budget. It is generally faster, has 16GB of VRAM, and AMD’s graphics support is likely to be more mature over the long term. The B580 makes more sense if you want to minimize spending and are comfortable occasionally dealing with Intel driver quirks.
The B580 is a reasonable value and can perform very well, but Intel’s drivers and compatibility are still a little less predictable than AMD’s. It also requires Resizable BAR to be enabled, so update the motherboard BIOS to at least version 7B86vAH and confirm that ReBAR is active. Some users have also reported problems with capture and streaming applications, although those issues may have improved with newer drivers.
The most important missing details are your monitor resolution, the games you play, and your actual upgrade budget. For 1080p gaming, the B580 may already be more than enough and offers better value. For higher resolutions or newer demanding games, the 9060 XT’s extra performance and VRAM make it the safer choice.
The performance gap depends heavily on the game, so checking benchmarks for the titles and resolution you actually use would be important. A higher-tier Radeon card could also be worth considering if it is available near your budget.
