I'm considering replacing my Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 3060 Ti, and 32GB of DDR4 with a Ryzen 5 7500X3D, RTX 5070, and 32GB of DDR5-6000. I mainly play CS2, Destiny 2, and other first-person shooters, and CS2 seems to be limited by my current CPU. Is this a sensible upgrade now, or would it be better to wait?

The platform change makes sense, but make sure the performance gain matches your resolution and refresh rate. A faster X3D CPU should help with frame rates and minimums in competitive shooters, while the graphics card will matter more at higher resolutions and settings. DDR5-6000 is a sensible target for an AM5 build; just use a matched kit and enable its memory profile in the BIOS.
That would be a substantial upgrade, especially for CPU-limited games like CS2. Moving to AM5 also gives you a newer platform with room for future processor upgrades. If the parts are available at prices you’re comfortable with, there’s a reasonable case for doing it now rather than waiting indefinitely.
Before committing to the RTX 5070, compare it with AMD’s Radeon 9070 or 9070 XT. They can offer more gaming performance for similar money, particularly in traditional rasterized games. Nvidia may still be the better choice if you care about DLSS, ray or path tracing, CUDA, or other Nvidia-specific features.
The 9070 XT is worth considering because it generally competes more closely with the 5070 Ti than the regular 5070. The final choice depends on pricing and whether Nvidia’s software features matter to you.
DLSS can be a deciding factor for Nvidia, especially if you prefer its upscaling or frame-generation features. It’s worth checking which features you actually use instead of comparing raw specifications alone.
