I'm buying in Germany with a budget of about €500, possibly stretching to €600 if the extra money meaningfully improves longevity. My current PC has a Ryzen 5 5600, an RTX 3060 Ti, 16GB of DDR4-3200, and a B550 motherboard. I play at 1440p and 144Hz, have no plans to move to 4K, and only want to upgrade the PC itself.
In newer games, the 3060 Ti's 8GB of VRAM seems to become the limiting factor before the CPU gets close to full usage. That makes a GPU upgrade seem like the best choice, but AM4 is also a dead-end platform: the second M.2 slot is only PCIe 3.0, DDR4 is the limit, and the worthwhile CPU upgrades are fairly limited. I'm worried that spending everything on a graphics card will help now but leave me wanting another upgrade within a couple of years, while replacing the CPU, motherboard, and RAM might barely improve gaming performance.
For anyone who has upgraded a similar 1440p system, which made the bigger difference: a major GPU upgrade or moving to a newer platform? If the GPU is the better choice, what graphics cards with more than 8GB of VRAM make sense around this budget in Germany? Also, would a good 650W power supply be enough for the likely upgrade?

The 5600 and 3060 Ti still make a perfectly usable 1440p combination if you are willing to lower a few settings. I used a similar setup and only really noticed the GPU struggling in demanding games at ultra settings. If the budget cannot reach a worthwhile card with more VRAM, waiting and saving a little longer may be better than replacing the platform now.
I would not move to AM5 while keeping the 3060 Ti. A new motherboard, DDR5, and CPU would consume most of the budget without fixing the VRAM limitation that is already affecting you. Upgrade the graphics card first, keep the Ryzen 5 5600, and revisit the platform when you can afford a complete upgrade.
