I'm using a Samsung phone and want links to open inside the Google app, like they did on my old phone. Whenever I search in Google and tap a website, it redirects me to Chrome. In my default-app settings, I only see Chrome and Samsung Internet, and clearing the defaults or disabling "open supporting links" hasn't fixed it. Is there a way to keep web pages inside the Google app instead?

If you want every link to open in a full browser, go to your phone’s Settings, open the default-apps section, and choose Chrome or Samsung Internet as the default browser. The Google app itself usually won’t appear in that list because it isn’t a standalone browser.
The Google app and Google Chrome are separate things. Chrome is Google’s web browser, while the Google app is mainly for search and news. Android’s default browser choices will normally only show actual browsers such as Chrome or Samsung Internet.
When you tap a link from Google Search, Android may use a custom tab rather than opening a separate browser window. That view is still powered by your default browser behind the scenes, so seeing Chrome involved is normal. Look in the Google app’s settings for an option related to opening web pages in the app if you want to avoid the switch to Chrome.
I figured it out. I had to change a few settings in the Google app so links would stay inside it instead of redirecting to Chrome.
