I'm looking for help on transferring an S3 bucket that was created by one user to another user. The bucket has around 15-20 million files, which is about 1.5 TB of data. Ideally, I'd like to keep the same bucket name. Is this possible?

You can't transfer a bucket directly between AWS accounts since buckets are associated with an account, not a specific user. However, you can give users access to the bucket. The common method is to create a new bucket in the destination account and then sync the data there. Once the transfer is complete, you can delete the original bucket to free up the bucket name for reuse.
Exactly! To clarify your workflow: 1) Create a new bucket in the other account, 2) Copy the files from the old bucket to the new one, 3) Delete the original bucket, and 4) Rename the new bucket to match the old bucket's name. That will work!
Using DataSync is a good option to transfer the data to another account. Just keep in mind that there might be transfer costs involved, so check that before proceeding.
If you're just looking to transfer the content, you can't simply move the bucket. My understanding is you can create a new bucket in the other account, copy everything over, and then delete the old bucket to reclaim the name. Is that the right process?
