I'm 18, based in the US, and switching from Xbox to PC. I'm new to computer hardware and would like help choosing parts for my first gaming PC. My $3,500 budget is for the PC tower only, so I'll purchase the monitor, keyboard, and mouse separately. I'm not near a major PC retailer, and I'm open to recommendations for either 1440p or 4K gaming.

If your goal is 4K gaming, look at a Ryzen 5 9600X paired with an RTX 5080. For 1440p, the 7800X3D or 9800X3D with an RX 9070 XT makes more sense. The 4K setup costs roughly $500 more, while the 1440p build can support very high refresh rates and leaves room for a quality OLED display.
Before finalizing the parts, decide which games and resolution you care about most. A sample build with an AM5 gaming CPU, 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB SSD, a capable graphics card, and a 750W Gold-rated power supply would be well below your tower budget. That leaves plenty of money for larger storage, better cooling, or upgrades instead of spending unnecessarily on accessories you’re buying separately.
For 1440p gaming, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D paired with a Radeon RX 9070 XT would be a strong combination. It should deliver excellent frame rates, especially with a 1440p high-refresh OLED monitor, and offers better value than spending the whole budget on maximum 4K performance.

Thanks, that gives me a good starting point. I’ll probably choose the monitor and peripherals separately.
