Why does computer audio sound distorted through my Fender Link I/O interface?

I'm using a Fender Link I/O audio interface with a drum kit and a Windows 11 laptop. The drums sound normal through the interface, but audio played back from the computer sounds extremely distorted or otherwise terrible when I connect headphones to the interface's headphone output. I've checked the drivers, but the problem hasn't improved. What settings or compatibility issues should I check?

The exact interface model is important here—the device is a Fender Link I/O. Check that Windows is using it as the playback output, then make sure the Windows sample rate and the interface’s driver or control-panel sample rate match. Also try disabling audio enhancements and exclusive-mode control for the device. If possible, test another USB port and install the current Windows 11 driver or firmware from Fender.
