Why can’t I find my downloaded files even though they’re in Quick Access?

I just got back to my PC after a trip, and when I checked my downloads folder, it says it's empty. However, I can still see my downloaded files in Quick Access. When I try to open them, I get an error message saying, 'It looks like this file has been moved or renamed.' I've already tried restarting my PC and looking for hidden files, but nothing seems to work. I'm not sure what else to do to find my files.

It sounds like your files were moved from the Downloads folder, which might be why you're seeing them in Quick Access but not in the folder itself. You could try checking the Recycle Bin to see if they got deleted by accident. Sometimes files get moved into other folders too, so using the search function to see if they're somewhere else on your PC might help.

Totally understand how frustrating this can be! If your files were moved, you can use the search bar on your PC to look for the file names directly. If you remember any part of the names, that might be helpful. Also, sometimes virus scans, file management software, or system updates can mess with download locations, so it’s worth checking those settings as well.
