How Can I Upgrade My Laptop for Better Gaming Performance?

Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me. I'm looking for ways to boost my laptop's gaming capability, especially for running Java Minecraft mods. My laptop isn't top-of-the-line and struggles a bit, but I'm willing to try making some upgrades. Here are my specs for reference:
- System Model: Inspiron 15 3535
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with Radeon Graphics at 2.00 GHz
- Installed RAM: 8GB

I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm not sure what upgrades are even possible. Any advice on what I can do to make it faster and less glitchy? Thanks a lot!

You might also want to optimize your laptop's settings. There are some guides online, like the one by Khorvie Tech, that walk you through Windows optimization. Just be aware that this might lead to faster battery drain when gaming, but it can provide a significant performance boost if you're plugged in while playing.

Good call on the optimization tips! I’ve heard plugging in the laptop while gaming can make a huge difference too.

One of the best first steps is to upgrade your RAM. Many laptops allow for upgrades, and moving from 8GB to 16GB can definitely help with gaming performance. Also, check if you can replace the hard drive with an SSD, as that will speed things up significantly. Unfortunately, the CPU and GPU on most laptops, including yours, are often soldered in and can't be upgraded.

Definitely check if you're able to expand the RAM. Having an SSD should also improve your load times a lot!

While you can't do a lot of upgrades, maximizing your RAM and switching to an SSD are great options if your model supports them. Just keep in mind that your processor and graphics are likely not upgradable, so if these changes don't help enough, you might eventually need a new laptop for better performance.

Look, if your model can handle it, upgrading to a much faster SSD with a fresh OS install could really help. And just to be sure, always check the manufacturer’s specs before purchasing anything. It's usually worth it to max out the RAM if you can.

Since you've already mentioned Java mods, it's true they can be quite demanding. If possible, make sure to keep your system clean—especially the fans—so it doesn’t overheat. Also, running your games while plugged in can enhance performance, sometimes even doubling it, since it's not saving battery.
