I'm looking to buy a GPU and I've found that both the 5060 Ti 16 GB and 7800 XT are priced the same in my country. My main goal is to game at 1440p, and maybe push to 4K with upscaling or lower settings on my 4K TV. Considering that, which one would be the better choice for performance and future-proofing?

While both GPUs are solid, the 7800 XT really outperforms the 4060 Ti, especially at 4K resolutions. However, be aware that there's no guarantee on how they'll perform with upcoming titles. If you're mainly looking at current games, any of these options should do fine, but if you plan on playing the latest games at higher settings in the future, the 7800 XT might give you an edge.
The 7800 XT is significantly more powerful, offering around 40% better performance which makes it a great fit for 1440p gaming. It can also handle 4K if you tweak the settings. However, keep in mind that its upscaling technology, FSR3, isn't as effective as some other options out there. If you're prioritizing performance, the 7800 XT is definitely the way to go.
Honestly, if you can find a 5070 for just a bit more, that might be worth it in the long run. It's tough to anticipate how things will run with future games like GTA 6 given the uncertain release dates, so sticking with a slightly more powerful card could be better. Right now, both the 5060 Ti and 7800 XT should handle current games well, but keep your sights on future-proofing.
