Can I Partially Convert a Windows Partition to Linux?

Hey everyone! I have a Framework 13 with an AMD Ryzen 7840U and integrated graphics, running Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024. I've tried using Linux Mint and Kubuntu in the past, but this time, I'm determined to switch to Bazzite-Deck KDE. I have a Ventoy USB ready, but no external drive to back up my data. I'm looking at about 330GB of uncompressed audio for a rhythm game, which makes the transition a bit tricky. Is there a way to partially convert my Windows partition to Linux, or do I have to go through the hassle of transferring everything in chunks? Just trying to avoid that tedious process if there's a simpler way! Am I asking for the impossible here?

You'll likely have to move your data manually. NTFS and the Linux filesystems like Btrfs or Ext4 don’t play nicely together in terms of permissions and structure. Just a heads-up: when installing Bazzite or similar distributions, you may need to manually deal with the EFI partition during installation.

Unfortunately, you can't convert a Windows partition to Linux, as they use different filesystems. It's a bummer, I know! As for choosing Bazzite, it’s more geared towards gaming, which might not fit your needs for a laptop. If you want something more versatile, you might want to consider Fedora KDE instead.
