Help! I Got Charged $67 by AWS Free Tier—What Can I Do?

Hey everyone! I'm a student who's been exploring AWS Free Tier, but I made a mistake by creating an OpenSearch service without realizing it wasn't included in the free plan. Now I've got a charge of $67 on my account! I've deleted the service and reached out to AWS Support asking for a one-time waiver, but I just got an automated response that didn't help my case. I've also tried to remove my card, but the charge is still there, and I'm really stressed since I can't afford to pay this. Can anyone share their experiences? Have you had AWS waive a charge like this? If I follow up, will I get a real person or is there a better way to escalate? What happens if I just don't pay? Will they send it to collections or block my account? Any advice would really help. Thanks!

If $67 is a lot for you right now, maybe it's a good idea to be very careful with AWS. But don't lose hope! Reach out to their support team, explain your situation thoroughly—they sometimes provide credits for first-time users, especially if you’re a student. Just make sure to keep an eye on billing alerts so this doesn't happen again.
