Why did I receive my friend’s Square receipt email instead of her?

I just need some clarification on a weird situation. My friend bought something at a market using a Square payment machine. She confirmed her email for the receipt, but somehow I ended up getting the email receipt instead of her. Our email addresses are totally different, and I didn't make any purchase myself—I was just standing next to her during the transaction. We checked her bank account, and she was charged, but I was not. How could the Square machine have sent the receipt to my email? It's really puzzling!

It's possible that if your friend ever used her card, it could have saved your email as a backup for receipts. Square lets you not have to enter your info every time—but it's odd since she selected her email right then. Just a thought!

Square can mess up like that sometimes. If your friend scrolls to the bottom of the receipt email, there’s typically an option to report a wrong email to Square. It might help them fix it for the future!

This kind of thing can happen! My wife sometimes gets my Square receipts too. We figured out it’s probably because she registered as a seller on Square, which might link our accounts somehow based on our address or another tie-in. It's definitely a quirky feature of the system!

That’s so strange! My friend and I don’t live together or share any cards, so I’m really confused about how that works.
