Help! Can’t Unlock My Samsung Galaxy A52 After Setting Up an App

I'm really stuck with my Samsung Galaxy A52. I recently installed a finance app called financIdent, and while setting it up, I had to create a password and use a fingerprint for security. However, I realized that the fingerprint option was linked to the entire phone, not just the app! Now, three days later, I can't unlock my phone using my fingerprint anymore. It says I have to enter a password for security reasons every 72 hours, but I never actually set a password since the fingerprint setup was through the app. I'm worried about losing all my data! Has anyone faced a similar issue or does anyone know how to unlock my phone without a password while keeping my data intact? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think there might be a misunderstanding about how the app works. You didn't set the fingerprint just with the app; it likely requested permission to access the phone's fingerprint setup. It's also strange if you're seeing that 72-hour password requirement. You may not have given permission directly, but the phone could enforce its security policies regardless.

This is true! Samsung has had these kinds of security prompts for a while now, so it could just be a part of their system.

Definitely check your phone’s settings. And perhaps look into what permissions the app was granted initially.

Have you considered trying the password you set up for the app? It might work since it's linked with the fingerprint setup.

I really tried, but it didn’t work! I even tried connecting my phone to a PC and everything Google suggested, but no luck.

From my experience, a situation like yours sometimes arises due to administrative settings put in place, especially if there are security features like Samsung Knox. You might want to look into that; it could explain the password requirement.

Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely look into Samsung Knox and see what I can find. Much appreciated!

Unfortunately, to use the fingerprint feature, you typically need to have a pin or password set up on your phone. So, it sounds like you'll need to know that code to unlock it. If you can't remember it, your only option might be to factory reset the phone, which would erase all your data. You might want to try that route as a last resort if nothing else works.

Yeah, it seems like forgetting the pin is the usual culprit for this issue. It's frustrating, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

Before you give up on your fingerprint, make sure your hands are clean and try using the same finger you set up originally, holding it down for a few seconds. Sometimes, it can be sensitive to dirt or smudges.

I get the logic, but on Android, if it disables the fingerprint after 72 hours, you do need to enter your pin first to reset it.
