Should I be worried about a WiFi-connected device I just got?

I recently received a gift of Govee lights that connect to WiFi, but I'm really worried that someone might be trying to spy on me. I'm not very tech-savvy, and I let a shady person install them. Is there any way for me to check if my information is being monitored? I know this might sound silly, but I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Honestly, if you’re feeling this uneasy, you might just want to trash the lights. They probably aren't spying on you, but if they’re a constant reminder of distrust, it might not be worth it!

I agree! Peace of mind is worth more than a pair of lights.

Totally! It's not worth keeping something that gives you bad vibes.

There's no need to panic; the Govee app is generally safe and isn't meant to spy on you. Govee is a reputable brand, so just try to relax a bit about it.

You’re not being spied on by the Govee lights or app. It’s highly unlikely. Maybe just double-check who the person is that gave them to you and what their intentions were.

I totally get your concern. If you don’t trust that person, I wonder why they gave you those lights in the first place. While it’s unlikely they modified anything, just keep your eyes open for any weird behavior. If you’re feeling uneasy, you might consider changing your Wi-Fi password just to be safe.

That's a smart move! Changing the Wi-Fi password can help secure your network against any potential unwanted access.

Exactly! It's always better to be safe than sorry, especially if you have doubts about that person.
