Will upgrading to an RTX 5080 cause a bottleneck with my Ryzen 5 5600?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about upgrading my PC with an RTX 5080, but I'm worried if my current CPU and power supply can handle it. I have a Ryzen 5 5600 processor, an RX 6600XT for my current GPU, and 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM. My setup also includes an EVGA Supernova 750 GT 80+ Gold power supply and an Asus TUF Gaming B550M-E WiFi motherboard, all housed in a Tecware Forge M case. For storage, I have a 500GB M.2 NVMe and a 1TB SSD. Just to give you a heads-up, I'll be gaming at a resolution of 3440x1440p Ultrawide. Do you think I'll run into any bottleneck issues, or should I consider adding another 16GB of RAM?

Yes, your Ryzen 5 5600 will likely bottleneck the RTX 5080, especially since you're gaming at 3440x1440p. If you want to see the full potential of the 5080, consider upgrading that CPU too.

If you can afford it, I'd suggest getting the RTX 5080 now. Prices are unlikely to drop, and if you're not specifically counting FPS, you might not even notice the bottleneck until you ask about it. You'll definitely see performance improvements!

There will be a bottleneck, but it might not be too bad depending on the games you play. At 1440p, you might encounter some issues. For example, games like Diablo 4 could cause some noticeable lag. If you're serious about gaming, think about getting a Ryzen 7 5800X or something similar. Also, keep an eye on your PSU as it needs to handle the power spikes.

Yeah, the 5800X would definitely help reduce bottlenecking, plus it’s a strong chip for gaming.

What if I go with the Ryzen 7 5800X? Would that solve the bottleneck?
