My brother's Google account got hacked, and now he can't log in. Every time we try the "try another way" option, we hit a wall. It just shows a message saying, "Making sure it's you. Please sign in to 'google.com.' This request comes from an app called 'chrome.exe' by Google LLC. Insert your security key into the USB port," which we don't even own. It doesn't give us the option for two-step verification or send any recovery codes. We're really stuck here!

It seems like the hacker has changed all the security settings, so the account might be really hard to recover. Unfortunately, it looks like if they linked a U2F security token, that means it could be pretty much gone for good. Sorry to hear about this!
