Hey everyone, I'm looking for some help with transferring to a new Google account. I joined an organization a while back and ended up using the Google Workspace email they provided for personal use. Over the years, I've tied my YouTube, Gmail, and other accounts to this email, but now I want to switch to my own email. I'm a bit lost on how to do this without losing important content. Specifically, I'm worried about my YouTube account, which has all my personalized content, comments, and watch history. Also, I've downloaded a ton of apps on Google Play, and I really don't want to lose access to those or have to repurchase anything. I've heard I can download and import emails, which helps my email situation, but I'm more concerned about YouTube and Google Play. I noticed Google has a support page, but since my email isn't a Gmail address, I can't change it myself. If I reach out to the workspace admin, can they help me change it to a different email at the same domain? I'd appreciate any suggestions, even alternate ways to transfer my YouTube watch history or anything like that. Thanks in advance!

Transferring data can indeed be tricky. For your main concern about email, you're correct that there are options for downloading and forwarding. As for the workspace admin, they might be able to customize your email address a bit, but their limits depend on the domain’s settings. Try asking them specifically about changing your current email to the new one you want within the same domain. It could save you the hassle of starting a new account from scratch!
You might want to check Google Takeout for exporting data from your existing account. While it doesn't directly support YouTube and Google Play transfers, you can still back up some of your data. For YouTube, you may have to manually save your watch history. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it should help. Also, for the apps in Google Play, try checking if you can access them using the same Play Store account. They should still be available even with a new Google account as long as you use the same payment method.
You can’t really transfer the YouTube data directly, but you can keep your current account for reference. Just make sure you note your subscriptions and favorites. As for Google Play, it might be worth logging in with your old account on a different device or out of habit to ensure you can still access your apps.
Yeah, it’s definitely worth asking your admin! Many times they have far more flexibility than it seems. Don’t forget to ask about any data you need them to help you migrate!.
