I'm genuinely curious if anyone out there is using memory MCP servers alongside Claude Code. Are they effective? Do they make coding easier? I'd really like to hear your experiences! For context, I've included some examples of memory servers I'm looking at, like the ones from GitHub. What do you think?

I wouldn't bother with MCP unless there are no CLI tools available. Seems pretty limited to me.
I've heard mixed things about MCP servers. They seem like a workaround for those not using Claude Code effectively. I haven’t used them personally, but I’m considering it. Could be helpful?
It's great for accessing your database from Claude, but definitely be cautious.
I actually rely on an MCP combined with Claude Code for various tasks like collaborating with different Claude versions, checking function signatures, and keeping session memory. It's been a real game changer for me!
I haven't seen much difference using memory MCP. I tested it with the Sequential Thinking feature but the output has been pretty limited with Opus so far. I’m currently experimenting without it to compare the results, so we’ll see how that goes!
I'm not convinced that memory makes sense in Claude Code. It’s optimized to work perfectly as is. Using tools and instructions effectively, it maintains a good internal to-do list, and you can use /compact if the context gets too bulky. Maybe it’s more relevant for other coding agents though.
I've been exploring this too! Honestly, you can add info directly to the Claude.md file, so I wonder if memory is even necessary. Anyone else feel the same?
I had no idea what MCP stood for, so I asked an AI to break it down for me like I'm ten. Super interesting stuff! I think I'll spend the day diving deeper into this topic!
I tried setting up a memory bank for Claude that spanned multiple files, but it ended up using too much of the context window, making it less useful. In my experience, Claude Code works just fine on its own without the memory system.
I've found that Perplexity MCP works really well with Claude Code! Definitely worth a shot.
