Is that McAfee virus alert real or just a scam?

I stumbled upon a YouTube video by Kurtis Conner about a now non-existent website called kurtistruelove.com. After I searched for it, I ended up on a page that had an image of a cracked phone screen. Shortly after, I received an alarming message from McAfee, claiming that I had a virus that could access my bank details and camera. I panicked and ran a scan, and it confirmed the presence of a virus. Then McAfee prompted me to delete the virus, but to do so I had to pay for a subscription, which felt really sketchy. With a countdown timer urging me to act, I backed away and didn't get the subscription. My phone seems to be working fine now, and I've cleared my history and cookies, but I'm worried about the 'virus' and what steps I should take next. Can anyone help me sort through this mess?

Totally a fake virus alert! Just close the website where you got that message. If you're curious, you could run a scan using a legit antivirus app like the official McAfee's if you have it, but it's likely just a scare tactic. Keep your browsing safe by avoiding unknown sites.

Don't sweat it. The virus alert was fake! Those scammy notifications are everywhere, especially on random sites. Just close the window and don't click any more suspicious links. Stick to trusted websites next time.

You probably don't have a real virus on your phone at all. It sounds like you encountered a scam website that uses fake virus alerts to pressure people into paying for a subscription they don't need. Just close that website, and if you're worried, download a legitimate antivirus app from the Google Play Store and run a scan.

Relax! That whole thing was probably designed to trap you into paying for a service you don't need. It's a common tactic used by shady websites. Just close your browser and move on. If you're still concerned, check for a reliable antivirus app directly from the store instead of through that site.

The pop-up you saw is definitely a scam. It tricks users into thinking they need to pay for anti-virus protection. Unless you actually have McAfee installed on your phone, it's just a fake message. Close the browser and ignore it. If you're feeling anxious, running a scan with a reputable antivirus just to be safe is a good idea.
