What’s a Good PC Build to Stay Under 350 Watts for Gaming and Editing?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a low-power PC that can handle 1080p gaming (possibly 1440p for some titles) while not exceeding 350 watts during gaming. I live in an apartment with my AC running all day (about 1150 watts), and I've been informed that our breaker can handle 1500-1800 watts total. I want to ensure I don't overload it while I still need to accommodate things like my microwave and monitors.

I'm looking at a build that includes 96-128GB of RAM for video editing and some light gaming (mostly indie games and titles like NBA 2K and GTA V). My main concern is finding an energy-efficient graphics card and getting some insights on what the average wattage for your builds is during productivity vs. gaming. Any recommendations would be super helpful!

If you want to keep your build super efficient and stay under that 350W cap, aim for either a 5600X processor or an efficient Nvidia card like the 5060 Ti. Also, don't forget about the rest of your setup—monitor wattage can add up too!

Great point! A proper monitor can easily add to the wattage, especially if you're using multiple screens.

Exactly! So, keep all these factors in mind when finalizing your build!

Any mid-range setup should fit your needs. For example, the 9070 graphics card is praised for efficiency, pulling around 220 watts while gaming. Overall, you can get everything under 350 watts, especially if you undervolt some components. Just make sure your CPU is efficient too; an AMD Ryzen 7 9700X or something similar will do well!

Totally agree! I’d also point out that adding 96GB of RAM will push your limits a bit since RAM can consume quite a bit, but with a solid plan, you should stay within range.

Yep, keeping an eye on total TDP is key. For example, a Ryzen 9600X with a 5070 can be set up to max 345 watts, which should be manageable!

Honestly, if you're super concerned about wattage, I'd suggest just going for a laptop instead. It's less hassle and will mitigate any power issues you might face with those limits.

Quick question, what country are you located in? The breaker limits you mentioned sound atypical. Are you sure you're not misinformed about your electrical setup?

I confirmed it; we have to stick to that limit since electricity is free in our building, but I need to make sure I don’t push it too hard.

For a desktop, a 5060 Ti paired with a Ryzen 5 9600 should work great. This setup can definitely keep gaming power usage below 350W. Just remember to consider undervolting for even less power draw while retaining performance!
