Trouble Connecting to Wi-Fi on New PC Build – Need Help!

Hi everyone! I just completed my very first PC build and successfully installed Windows 11 using a USB stick. Everything seems to be working great except for the Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, I don't have Ethernet access, so I really need to get online to finish the setup.

Here are some details:
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 (it has built-in Wi-Fi)
- **OS:** Windows 11
- **Issue:** In Device Manager, there's a 'Network Controller' listed under 'Other devices' with a yellow warning icon.

I've attempted a couple of things:
- Downloaded the MediaTek Wi-Fi driver from the Gigabyte website.
- Transferred it to my new PC and tried using Device Manager to install it.

I'm feeling completely stuck and pretty exhausted from trying different solutions. If anyone has the right driver for this motherboard or knows of another method to get the Wi-Fi up and running, I would really appreciate your help! Thanks!

It sounds like you're missing the driver for your Wi-Fi. You have two main options: 1) If you can, connect your PC to the internet using a USB Wi-Fi dongle and download the driver directly from Gigabyte's website. 2) Alternatively, use another device to download the driver, then transfer that file to your PC and run the installer. That should do the trick!

Are you trying to install the driver through Device Manager? It's usually best to run the installer directly like you would with any other software. Did you try that instead?

I had some similar issues with a fresh Windows install. What worked for me was going to the drivers section in Windows, right-clicking on the WAN card, and then disabling or uninstalling it. After that, I was able to install the new driver without any issues!

If you have an Ethernet cable nearby, can you connect directly that way? It might save you a lot of hassle in getting the Wi-Fi working right away.
