Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from a GTX 1660 that I've been using for quite a while now. I'm based in a third world country, so my options are pretty limited—no AMD cards available, and the only option that fits my budget is the GTX 3060 with 12GB of VRAM. With the prices being what they are, I wanted to ask if this card is future-proof or if I should wait and save up for a better option?

The GTX 3060 is a solid choice! Just keep in mind it's a couple of generations old now. If you're okay with that, go for it! It has more than enough power and the 12GB VRAM is definitely a plus for most games nowadays.
I just upgraded to the 3060 12GB and no regrets so far! The current prices for the upcoming 5060 are way too high for the performance increase they offer. For games like D4 and Ark, I run them just fine on high settings without much lag. Plus, if your PSU handled the 1660, you should be good with the 3060 as well.
If I go for the 4060 instead of the 3060, would that be a good move? I know it has only 8GB of VRAM, would that be a mistake?
8GB is decent for gaming at 1080p without ray tracing. But if you're thinking of higher resolutions or ray tracing, you'll want more VRAM.
I've been using the 3060 and it's working out fine for me. It really depends on the games you play, but as long as you're not trying to run everything on ultra, you should be golden. I also don't plan on upgrading mine for a while, especially considering current prices.
If you can, try looking for a used 3060 Ti or even a 3070. They may offer better performance for not too much extra cost.
Yeah, I agree! I have a 3070 and it's been great for me. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon with how well it performs.
