What Lightweight Linux OS Should I Use for My Dell Optiplex?

I have a Dell Optiplex 3050 with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD that I want to set up for my family. We're mainly going to use it for watching YouTube and DVDs, so I'm looking for a lightweight, fast Linux OS that's easy to set up. It's intended for keyboard and mouse use, so no need for remote access. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I’m running Ubuntu on my Optiplex, and it’s working great. Super user-friendly!

Is your setup specific to the Dell Optiplex or a particular graphics card?

With 8GB of RAM, you can run almost any Linux distribution smoothly. Linux Mint could be your best bet for an easy transition.

You might want to check out a few distros like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pop OS, and Zorin OS. They all perform well with that setup! Linux Mint is often recommended for its ease of use, especially for beginners.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into Pop OS and Zorin OS specifically.

I'm currently reviewing Pop OS. By the way, is there a way to remove the top panel in that one?

You could also give Linux Mint XFCE Edition or Linux Mint Debian Edition a try. I've also heard good things about Fedora, though I haven't had time to test it myself.
