Do Front-End Developers Usually Request Edit Access to Figma Designs?

As a front-end developer, I always ask for edit access to Figma designs to make sure I'm aligned with the original concept. However, one of my clients insists on only providing view access. I ended up duplicating the design to work on it, but I missed a few features because I got out of sync with the original design. How do you handle this situation?

Absolutely, I always ask for edit access. The new 'dev mode' feature is super frustrating because it limits what we can do. I used to recommend Figma to teams, but after this change, I’ve had to rethink that. If you're looking for something else, Penpot could be a good alternative, though it’s going to take time for it to become popular like Figma did!
