I built a new PC in January with a Ryzen 5 9600X and an RTX 5070 Ti, and my older Gigabyte M27Q has been working well until recently. Over the past few days, the image has occasionally become darker and more muted for a few seconds before returning to normal. Moving the mouse sometimes seems to bring the colors back, so I'm wondering whether the monitor is starting to fail or if this could be a software, G-Sync, or browser-related issue.
If I do need a replacement, I'm looking for a 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor around $500 or less. I'll compare detailed reviews myself, but I'd appreciate recommendations for reliable models and any advice from people who have experienced similar flickering or sudden brightness changes.

Before replacing the monitor, I’d troubleshoot the display chain first. Temporarily disable G-Sync or adaptive sync, test another DisplayPort cable, and check whether the issue happens outside Chrome. Nvidia driver settings, browser hardware acceleration, and HDR can sometimes cause brief changes in brightness or color that look like a failing panel. If the problem appears across multiple devices or inputs, then the monitor itself becomes much more suspicious.
For 27-inch 1440p OLED displays, the panel options are fairly limited, so several brands may be using very similar or identical Samsung-made panels. The refresh rate can vary quite a bit, but many models in this category use 240Hz panels.
The ASRock PGO27QSA is worth looking at if it’s available around $299, while the Samsung Odyssey G6 is another option closer to $449. I’ve also had a good experience with the Alienware AW2726DM, which is often around $349. Alienware’s panel warranty is a major advantage, and it’s a strong choice if you value warranty coverage and support.
