After Updating My iPhone, YouTube and Social Media Videos Buffer and Have No Sound

I updated my iPhone 12 to iOS 26.6.1 last night, and since then videos have stopped working properly. YouTube videos usually never start, and on the one occasion a video played, there was no audio. Instagram Reels play for about half a second before freezing, also without sound. I've restarted the phone and toggled Bluetooth off and on, but neither helped. App updates are installed, and audio works normally during phone calls and in games. The problem currently seems limited to video playback in YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Has anyone experienced this or found a fix?

Since calls and games have sound, this probably isn’t a general speaker problem. Bluetooth is unlikely to be involved unless an accessory is connected; it may be worth checking the playback output in Control Center anyway. The issue seems specific to video apps or the way they’re handling the new iOS version.

There’s no external Bluetooth device connected. I only toggled Bluetooth because that was suggested during troubleshooting. Calls and games sound normal, but videos in YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook are affected.

First, check that YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook are updated separately from iOS. App updates can sometimes be needed after a system update, even when the phone itself is current.

I checked, and all of the apps are already up to date.
