I'm an Android user planning to switch to an iPhone when the next models launch. I tried creating an Apple Account through the Apple Store website on my Android phone and Windows PC, but the process repeatedly failed, even after trying different browser modes. I eventually installed Apple Music on Windows and successfully created an account with an email address I've used for about 10 years. I signed in on my PC, added my address and payment details, and assumed everything was ready.
The next day, however, Apple said the account was under review for 24 hours. I later received an email saying that access had been denied, without any explanation. Support, including a manager, couldn't restore the account, explain the reason, or release the email address so I could create another account.
I made several attempts only because the account-creation process kept failing. I'm now worried about trying my backup email when I buy the iPhone, in case that account is also blocked. Has anyone experienced an account being created successfully and then denied after review? What can trigger this, and is there any way to recover the account or free up the email address afterward?

It’s possible the account was flagged for reasons unrelated to the website errors, so there may not be a guaranteed recovery method. The fact that the account was denied doesn’t necessarily mean your next account will be blocked, but using one device and the standard setup flow, rather than repeatedly retrying across browsers and platforms, should reduce the chance of another automated review.
The denial sounds like an automated security decision, but Apple generally doesn’t disclose the exact trigger. Repeated attempts, unusual sign-in patterns, or payment and account details being entered across different devices could potentially cause additional checks. Support may be unable to reverse that specific decision, so waiting and creating the account during normal iPhone setup is probably the least risky path.
Since you don’t have the iPhone yet, the safest option may be to wait and create or finish setting up the account during the phone’s initial setup. That process is designed to guide you through creating an account and transferring your information from Android. Multiple failed creation attempts may have contributed to the review, although there’s no way to know for sure.
I’ll wait until I have the phone now. I originally wanted the account, address, and payment details ready for launch day, but I don’t want to risk locking my backup email too.

That’s what I’m hoping. I only retried because the site wouldn’t complete a basic account registration, but I’ll avoid making more attempts until I have the phone.
