Can I use a portable Bluetooth speaker, such as a JBL model, as the main audio output for my PC? My motherboard may or may not include Bluetooth, so I'm also wondering whether I'd need an adapter and what drawbacks to expect for gaming, videos, music, or voice calls.

Bluetooth speakers are generally fine for music and casual listening, but latency can be noticeable in games or anything requiring precise audio timing. Bluetooth is also usually less reliable than wired speakers or a wireless system using a dedicated 2.4 GHz dongle.
Yes, it’ll work as long as the PC has Bluetooth. If the motherboard doesn’t include it, you can add a USB Bluetooth adapter or an internal expansion card. The main thing to watch for is audio delay, which can make games and videos feel out of sync.
If you want to reduce delay, look for support for codecs or standards such as aptX Low Latency, LDAC, or Bluetooth LE Audio, along with a compatible PC adapter. Keep in mind that higher-quality Bluetooth modes may not work properly while using the speaker’s microphone for voice chat. For calls, a separate microphone is usually a better option because portable speaker microphones tend to sound poor.

The delay depends heavily on the speaker, adapter, and Bluetooth codecs. Some setups have little or no noticeable lag, but it’s worth checking reviews before buying specifically for gaming.
