Are VM allocation problems affecting Sweden Central right now?

I'm starting a large number of D-series virtual machines in Sweden Central and many deployments are failing or requiring a switch to a different VM SKU. I haven't found any official advisory yet, so I'm wondering whether others are seeing the same capacity or allocation issue.

We had the same issue with D2s virtual machines. Switching temporarily to D4as allowed them to start, so trying another compatible SKU may be a useful workaround while capacity is constrained.

Sweden Central has been reported as a busy region lately, so this may be related to limited capacity rather than a configuration problem.

There’s been guidance to use Sweden Central or West Europe when UK South deployments aren’t available. That may have shifted extra demand into those regions, while some compute capacity is also reportedly being reserved for AI workloads. New data centers are expected eventually, but that won’t help with the immediate issue.

We’re seeing similar allocation failures in West Europe too, including with E8v6 SKUs. The problems started around 9:20 a.m. Central European time.

Support told us the problem appears to be a broader, global outage rather than something limited to one region.
