My ASUS G75VW experienced a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED blue screen while I was playing a modded game. Afterward, the laptop powered on with indicator lights, but the screen stayed black. Letting it cool down seemed to help temporarily, but it later shut down again without another blue screen, accompanied by a strange electrical-sounding noise.
I tried using it in a cooler area, cleaning the fans with an alcohol wipe, and blowing out dust with compressed air. The problem eventually returned, and now the laptop sometimes refuses to start even when it is cool. Holding the power button longer eventually made it beep and boot once, but I still don't know what caused the crashes or how to prevent them.
Could this be overheating, a power or motherboard problem, faulty memory, or something else? I also checked for files in C:WindowsMinidump but didn't find any.

Cleaning the fans is a good start, but blowing air through the vents does not confirm that the heatsink and thermal compound are working properly. Check the fan speeds and temperatures once it boots. If temperatures rise rapidly or the fan is not spinning, it may need internal cleaning and new thermal paste by someone comfortable opening the laptop.
The blue-screen message alone usually isn’t enough to identify the cause. If Windows can boot normally or in Safe Mode, check whether C:WindowsMinidump contains crash logs. Those files can help identify a bad driver or hardware issue. If no dump was created, configure Windows to create small memory dumps and see whether the next crash produces one.
This sounds more serious than Fast Startup. Sudden shutdowns followed by a black screen can be caused by overheating, a failing charger or battery, RAM, the motherboard, or the graphics hardware. Avoid repeatedly running it while it is hot, and test it with the charger connected, the battery removed if possible, and only essential peripherals attached.
Back up important files immediately while it still starts. Then run a memory diagnostic and hardware checks, and reinstall or update the graphics and chipset drivers if the logs point there. If it continues powering off or producing electrical noises, stop using it and have the charger and motherboard inspected rather than treating it as a Windows setting problem.
