My XPPen Artist 12 display tablet got caught in a sudden rain shower while it was completely powered off. Water reached the screen and the button area. I wiped away the visible moisture and currently have it upside down on a towel, slightly tilted toward the buttons so it can drain. There isn't a specialized repair shop nearby, and the laptop repair shop I use won't reopen until Monday. I'm planning to leave the tablet powered off until it has had plenty of time to dry. What are the chances it still works?

It may well work again, especially since it was switched off when it got wet. The safest thing is to keep it disconnected and let it dry thoroughly rather than testing it repeatedly. Waiting several days before powering it up is much better than risking a short while moisture is still inside.
There’s a decent chance it will survive if it was truly powered off and no water caused a short. Don’t try turning it on or plugging it in until it’s completely dry. If possible, opening the casing would help trapped moisture evaporate and let you check for dampness or corrosion, but don’t force it if there are no accessible screws. Water can leave mineral residue behind, so drying alone doesn’t guarantee it will be fine.
I checked the model and it isn’t waterproof. The casing also doesn’t seem designed to open, since I can’t find any screws, so I’ll leave it drying until at least Tuesday before taking it in.
