I work from home four days a week and usually take my MacBook Neo into the office one day a week. I want to keep the MacBook dedicated to work and use my Windows 11 gaming PC for personal use, while sharing the same dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, webcam, microphone, and other peripherals between them.
I have seen KVM switches recommended for switching between two computers, but I am unsure whether this setup will work with a MacBook Neo, especially with two external monitors. Both computers are personally owned, not supplied or managed by an employer. What hardware would I need, and are there any limitations I should know about?

The KVM itself probably will not be the difficult part. The important question is whether the MacBook Neo can produce two independent monitor outputs. If it only supports one external display through its built-in graphics, you would need a DisplayLink-enabled dock or USB adapter for the second screen.
That setup can work well for office applications, but DisplayLink is not identical to a direct graphics connection. You may notice compromises with high refresh rates, color-critical work, fast video, or gaming. Check the MacBook's display specifications and choose a dock and KVM that support your monitors' resolution and refresh rate before buying.
A KVM can handle the basic switching. You would connect the MacBook through a suitable USB-C dock, connect the Windows PC directly or through the appropriate video inputs, and plug the monitors and USB peripherals into the KVM. A KVM with a physical button is usually easier than one that relies on keyboard shortcuts.
The main thing to verify is the MacBook's support for two external displays. If it can only drive one display natively, the second monitor would need DisplayLink or another USB graphics solution. That requires a compatible dock, software drivers, and may have limitations with gaming, video playback, refresh rates, or latency.
That makes sense. Since neither machine is work-provided or locked down, I should be able to install the required DisplayLink software if the MacBook needs it.
