I'm planning to get an RTX 5070 Ti, but I'd rather not replace my ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus WiFi II motherboard. Since it supports PCIe 4.0 rather than PCIe 5.0, will the graphics card work properly, and should I expect any meaningful performance loss?

The main caveat is that if a game exceeds the card’s available VRAM and has to use system memory, the slower PCIe connection can make stuttering or 1% lows worse. That situation depends on the game and settings, though, and isn’t a reason by itself to replace your motherboard.
PCIe 4.0 is totally fine for this card. B550 supports the appropriate PCIe standard, and you don’t need a new motherboard just to use a newer-generation GPU. Even some cards running on PCIe 3.0 systems work without major issues.
Yes, it will work without any compatibility problems. PCIe is backward compatible, so the 5070 Ti will simply operate at PCIe 4.0 speeds on your B550 board. For normal gaming, the performance difference compared with PCIe 5.0 should be very small.
