I'm putting together a budget-friendly mini-ITX system using an open-air case. I already have a CPU cooler, and the graphics card and power supply will have their own built-in fans. Are additional case fans necessary, or will the components get enough airflow directly from the surrounding room? I'm trying to keep costs down wherever possible.

The CPU cooler, graphics card, and power supply fans should provide enough airflow for a basic open-air setup. Just make sure the system isn’t placed somewhere cramped or right next to a heat source.
Probably not. With an open-air layout, the components can pull in room-temperature air directly, so additional case fans usually aren’t necessary.

You can skip extra fans to save money. If temperatures end up higher than expected, an inexpensive room fan aimed toward the build can provide plenty of airflow, but it probably won’t be needed in normal conditions.
