I'm upgrading my PC mainly for CPU-heavy games and would appreciate a final compatibility and value check. The current parts list is an Intel Core i9-14900KF, an MSI B760 Gaming Plus WiFi DDR4 ATX motherboard, 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory using two 16GB sticks, an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm cooler mounted at the front, an RTX 3080, and a Fractal Torrent case. I already have additional case fans and a fan hub. I know pairing a high-end i9 with DDR4 isn't ideal, but DDR5 and newer memory platforms are currently more expensive. Would this setup work well, or would a different CPU or motherboard make more sense?

The 14900KF is probably poor value for this build, especially when paired with relatively slow DDR4. A 14700K would usually be the more balanced choice, and the current motherboard should be adequate because it has a 12-phase VRM. The 14900KF also produces substantial heat and power draw, so the cooling and motherboard requirements are higher.
I’d look at a somewhat stronger motherboard, such as an MSI MAG or ASUS TUF model. The Gaming Plus is toward the budget end, and a 14900KF can draw a lot of power under heavy loads.
Do you have any specific ATX DDR4 suggestions that support the 14900KF? I’m having trouble finding a suitable board that still uses DDR4.
Would a second-hand 14900KF from a reputable seller be worthwhile if it costs about the same as a new 14700K?
