My iPhone 12 Pro was opened during a repair for a modem problem, and Face ID has not worked since. Stolen Device Protection is enabled with the security delay set to "Always," so I cannot use my passcode instead of Face ID to disable the protection, reset Face ID, open certain locked apps, or approve a computer for USB backups. Is there any way to recover or back up the data without erasing and restoring the phone from iCloud?

Unfortunately, if Face ID is unavailable and Stolen Device Protection requires it, there generally is no supported way to bypass the Trust prompt or change those protected settings. The remaining recovery option is to use Find My on iCloud.com or another Apple device to erase the iPhone, then restore whatever data is already synced to iCloud. A local backup cannot be created if the phone will not approve the computer.
That is what I was afraid of. I was hoping there might be a way to make a backup before erasing, but the protection blocks the computer connection too.
