How can I get my LB-Link Wi‑Fi 6 USB adapter working on Kubuntu?

I just finished building a desktop running Kubuntu and need to connect an LB-Link 950AX Mini USB Dongle Wi‑Fi 6 AX900 Adapter so the computer can get online. I have a laptop that can run Kubuntu and provide temporary internet access, so I can download packages or drivers if necessary. What is the best way to install and configure this adapter?

For a permanent setup, replacing the dongle with one that explicitly supports Linux and uses an in-kernel driver is probably the best solution. That avoids having to rebuild a driver after future Kubuntu or kernel updates.

First check whether the adapter is supported by Kubuntu's built-in kernel drivers. The manufacturer's download page appears to provide a Windows driver but no official Linux driver, so it may not work automatically. A supported adapter is usually the least frustrating option, especially one known to work without compiling a third-party driver.

If you only need temporary internet access, connect the desktop through Ethernet. If the computer or router is too far away, a USB Ethernet adapter can work as an alternative. Once online, you can install updates and investigate Wi‑Fi support more easily.

There may be an unofficial Linux driver for this model, but you will probably need to identify the adapter's chipset and compile the driver yourself. Search for the exact model together with “Linux driver,” then verify that the instructions apply to your Kubuntu kernel before installing anything. Third-party drivers can stop working after kernel updates, so keep the source and installation steps available.
