I've already turned off the AI Overview setting, but AI summaries still appear on most of my searches. Is there a reliable way to remove them and return to regular search results? If Google doesn't provide a dependable switch, which search engines or browser setups are people using to avoid AI summaries?

Adding “-ai” to a search query is sometimes suggested, but it doesn’t reliably remove the overview. A few people claim unusual or profane terms make it disappear, but that’s inconsistent and not really a proper solution.
In Firefox, an extension such as udm14 can create a Google search option that skips the AI Overview. You can also add a custom search engine using a URL like https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s, then set it as the default.
There isn’t currently a dependable universal off switch in Google. Some people use DuckDuckGo or Brave instead, while others use a browser extension or custom search URL that forces Google’s simpler results view.
DuckDuckGo seems to offer better controls. Its AI features can be disabled, and you don’t need an account to change that setting. It may be worth trying alongside Brave if you want an alternative browser and search setup.
