How can I keep my bedroom PC from collecting so much dust?

My PC has to stay in my bedroom, which has carpet, and I can't move it to another room. It sits on a wooden board rather than directly on the carpet, but it still becomes heavily dusty within just a couple of days after cleaning. The dust buildup is especially bad on the AIO radiator. I live in the UK, where it rains frequently, so taking the PC outside to blow it out isn't really practical. What can I do to reduce the amount of dust it collects?

Raise the PC higher if possible, ideally onto the desk. Dust settles heavily on floors and carpet, so getting the case farther away from that layer can help a lot. Also clean the case’s intake filters regularly instead of letting dust reach the radiator and other components.

Check the fan layout and aim for slightly positive pressure: use a little more filtered intake airflow than exhaust airflow. That reduces the amount of dusty air being pulled through gaps in the case. For example, three intake fans and two exhaust fans can work, depending on the case, but make sure every intake has a dust filter and that the filters are kept clean.

Positive pressure is helpful, but the exact fan arrangement depends on the case. It’s worth checking the airflow direction and making sure the intake fans are actually filtered.

Start with the room itself: vacuum the carpet regularly, wipe down surfaces, and wash bedding at least every couple of weeks. A small air purifier near the PC can also help remove airborne dust. Keeping the surrounding air cleaner usually makes a bigger difference than repeatedly cleaning the computer.

If the dust buildup is extreme, an air purifier is probably worth trying, especially if it’s positioned near the PC and has enough airflow for the room. A robot vacuum or more frequent carpet cleaning can also help; reducing dust on the floor and bedding cuts down what the computer can pull in.
