I have an older ClempadXL tablet that is stuck restarting during boot. I've already tried clearing the cache and performing several startup attempts. Connecting it to a computer doesn't expose the internal storage, so I can't copy anything off the device. My remaining option appears to be a recovery or factory reset, but I'm worried that it could erase the data. Is there any safe way to retrieve the files first?

The internal storage is probably integrated flash memory rather than a removable card, so it usually can’t be taken out and read separately. Since accessing it through a computer hasn’t worked, avoid performing a factory reset or reinstalling the system. If the files are important, a professional mobile-device data recovery service is probably the safest option. They may need to repair the tablet enough for it to boot and decrypt the storage before copying the data.
Unfortunately, newer mobile devices generally encrypt their internal storage, so the tablet usually has to power on and unlock successfully before the files can be read. If you don’t already have a backup, there may not be an inexpensive software solution. Don’t reset it yet; repeated repair attempts can make recovery harder. A specialist who works with failing phones and tablets is the best next step.
It’s an old tablet from before cloud backups were common, so I never had the data synced anywhere.
