My iPhone 11 recently stopped working, and I'm planning to upgrade. I initially couldn't access my iCloud data because I forgot the email address and password for my Apple Account, and I thought my phone number wasn't linked to it. I also can't use the broken phone for QR scanning or other verification steps. I later confirmed that the phone number is connected and may remember the account email, but attempts to sign in keep ending with a "session timed out" message. Can Apple Support help me recover the account over the phone, and what information will I need to prove that it belongs to me?

Start with Apple’s official account-recovery process and carefully record the email address and password once you regain access. Since you’ve confirmed that the phone number is linked, try using it to identify the account or reset the password. Apple Support may be able to guide you, but they can’t bypass the security checks—be prepared to verify ownership with whatever account or device information you still have.
Use Apple’s account-recovery instructions and try every available verification method, including the trusted phone number. If you don’t have enough information to prove ownership, Apple generally cannot restore access or transfer the old iCloud data to a new account. Avoid creating a replacement account until you’ve finished trying the official recovery options.

I eventually remembered the account email, but signing in still gives me a session-timeout error. Phone support might help troubleshoot that, although they’ll still require enough information to confirm the account is yours.
