I've noticed a few ants crawling out of my laptop, so I shut it down and placed it on a light-colored sofa to monitor them. After about an hour, I'm still seeing one or two ants emerge. What's the safest way to make sure the laptop is clear without damaging it?

You could place a small amount of sugar or another bait near—but not inside—the laptop. That may encourage any remaining ants to leave rather than keep searching inside the device.
Avoid turning the laptop on just to heat the ants out. Heat and moving air may not remove them reliably, and powering it up while ants or debris are inside could risk damage. Keep it unplugged until you’re confident it’s clear.
If you’re comfortable doing so, open the laptop and inspect it carefully for ants or nesting material. Otherwise, place the powered-off laptop in a sealed container along with ant traps for a couple of days, keeping the traps from touching the device. Don’t spray insecticide into the laptop.
That makes sense—I’ll leave it powered off instead of trying to flush them out with heat.
