I use an ASUS Vivobook that came with Microsoft 365, so I already have the Office apps I need. The problem is that WPS Office keeps appearing and reinstalling without my permission—sometimes even on the same day I uninstall it. It also takes over file associations, so documents open in WPS instead of Microsoft Word or the other Microsoft apps. What could be causing this, and how can I remove it permanently and prevent it from coming back?

First, check Windows settings under Settings > Apps > Installed apps and uninstall WPS Office and any related WPS components. If it returns, look for another ASUS utility, bundled installer, or recently installed program that is reinstalling it. Checking Startup apps and scheduled tasks can also reveal something launching the installer automatically.
After removing WPS, reset your file associations. Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps, search for extensions such as .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx, and assign them to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can also right-click a document, choose Open with, select the Microsoft application, and enable the option to always use it.
Make sure you are dealing with WPS Office, the Microsoft Office alternative, rather than WPS Wi-Fi Protected Setup. If WPS Office was installed by a bundled installer, browser download, or ASUS software, uninstalling only the main app may not be enough—the program responsible for reinstalling it needs to be removed too.
