How can I verify that an unopened GPU is genuine before I can test it?

I ordered a graphics card from another country because it was significantly cheaper than buying the same model locally. It was delivered to my parents' address because packages cannot be delivered to my student dorm. This is my first PC build, and I do not yet have the other components needed to install and test the card. Is there any reliable way for my parents to confirm that it is genuine, unused, and the correct model without me physically seeing it?

Have your parents record the entire unboxing in one continuous video. Before opening anything, check for damaged or replaced seals, then compare the model and serial numbers on the card, its box, and the order details. They should also film the card from every angle and look for scratches, missing accessories, or signs that it was previously installed. This will not prove the internals are genuine, but it can document obvious problems for a return claim.

That is useful evidence if the card was swapped or the packaging was resealed, but it still cannot rule out counterfeit components inside the card. Testing it later is still necessary.

You cannot conclusively verify it until it is installed and tested. Once you have the rest of the PC, use GPU-Z and run several benchmarks to confirm the model, memory, and performance match the specifications. A card can look authentic while having modified firmware or incorrect hardware.

Be especially cautious if the price is dramatically lower than comparable listings and the seller is a third-party business. Read the recent one-star reviews for reports of open boxes, incorrect models, or counterfeit cards. Check the return deadline and keep all packaging, since buyer protection is most useful when you report the problem promptly.

The safest option is to wait until you can test it, or buy from a retailer with a strong return policy and direct fulfillment. Even a sealed-looking box is not definitive because counterfeiters and dishonest returns can reproduce packaging or replace internal parts.
