I'm moving my components into an MSI MAG Forge 320R Airflow case. I'm used to cases having separate tiny connectors for the power switch, reset switch, power LED, and drive LED, but this case appears to use one combined front-panel connector. My Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX motherboard has the usual front-panel header, but the connector doesn't seem to line up with it. Do I need an adapter, or should I modify the plastic connector?

For this case and board, the connector should fit over the appropriate section of the Gigabyte front-panel header. The power switch only needs the two PWR_SW pins and works in either orientation; the LEDs do have positive and negative sides, so reverse an LED plug if it doesn’t light. Use the motherboard and case manuals together rather than forcing the plug.
Some newer cases use a single front-panel plug while older motherboards use individual two-pin leads. If the plug genuinely does not match after checking the pin layout, a front-panel adapter is the safe solution. Do not trim the housing or force it onto the pins, since that could short or bend the header.
Don’t cut the connector. The case plug is a combined, standardized front-panel connector, and it should connect to the motherboard’s F_PANEL header when oriented correctly. Match the missing or blocked pin with the missing pin on the header, then check the motherboard manual for the exact power-switch, reset-switch, and LED pin assignments.
The important thing is confirming that you’re using the actual F_PANEL cable rather than a USB header. The case documentation should show the connector and pinout.
