How do I use one horizontal monitor and one vertical monitor with different resolutions?

I'm trying to set up two displays: a primary ultrawide at 3440×1440 in landscape mode and a secondary 1920×1080 monitor rotated 90 degrees into portrait mode. The primary display works normally, but the resolution and orientation controls for the second monitor are greyed out in the display settings. What can I do to configure the second screen correctly?

In the display settings, make sure you click the second monitor in the layout before changing anything. Its native resolution should normally be detected automatically, and the orientation menu should then let you select portrait or one of the 90-degree rotation options. Keep the monitor at its native resolution and use scaling only if text or interface elements need to be larger. If Windows still keeps those controls disabled, try configuring the display through your graphics card’s control panel instead.

That’s the issue I’m running into—the first monitor has working resolution and orientation controls, but both options remain greyed out for the second one.

Try using the NVIDIA or AMD display software rather than the regular operating-system settings. The graphics driver tools often expose resolution and rotation controls for each connected monitor, even when the standard settings page does not.
