I bought a used B650 Aorus Elite AX motherboard. It looks fine overall, but there's some dried thermal paste on the PCB and inside one of the RAM slots, A1. I probably won't use that slot, but I'd still like to clean it properly. Please explain the process in very simple, beginner-friendly steps.

Cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol are probably the easiest option for the RAM slot. Dab and wipe patiently rather than scrubbing aggressively. A lint-free cloth works well for the paste on the flat PCB areas.
You may not need to clean it at all if the paste isn’t blocking the RAM contacts and the board works normally. Thermal paste usually isn’t electrically conductive, so leaving a tiny, harmless-looking spot alone is safer than damaging the slot while trying to remove it.
Turn the motherboard completely off and disconnect everything first. Use 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol, ideally 99%, with a new soft toothbrush or cotton swab. Gently loosen the paste without forcing anything into the slot, and wipe the residue away with a lint-free cloth or fresh swabs. Keep changing to a clean part of the cloth or swab so you don’t spread it around. Let the board dry completely before powering it on.
Got it—so gentle brushing with alcohol, then wait until there’s absolutely no moisture left before testing it.
