How should I safely ship a fully assembled gaming PC overseas?

I need to ship a desktop PC overseas, but I can't disassemble it and rebuild it when it arrives. I'm considering using a large, rugged wheeled storage box and packing the computer tightly with soft items such as winter clothing for cushioning. I don't have enough space or the ability to carry the PC as checked or carry-on luggage. Would this be safe, or is there a better way to protect the components during international shipping?

If you absolutely can’t remove the parts, make internal supports from proper packing foam or carefully fitted cardboard so the components can’t move during transit. Don’t let the packing press directly against delicate connectors, fans, or capacitors, and make sure any glass side panel is protected extremely well.

Soft clothing isn’t ideal because it can create static and may snag on components. Use purpose-made anti-static packing materials, ideally expandable foam that molds around the inside of the case. A sturdy shipping box with thick foam is usually safer than a storage container by itself.

The graphics card is the biggest concern. It’s heavy and hangs from the motherboard, so rough handling can damage the PCIe slot or bend the card. Remove it and pack it separately if at all possible. A large air cooler should also be removed if it puts significant stress on the motherboard.

The safest option is to break the computer down and ship only the case and power supply, while carrying the smaller components separately. If you’re unfamiliar with the hardware, a computer repair shop could remove the graphics card and cooler, label the cables, and package everything properly.
